C&L 73 mm MAF

MAF stands for Mass Air Flow, this sensor reads how much air is coming in so the computer knows how much fuel to supply. It fits right behind the air filter. It is also restrictive due to its small diameter. That's where this comes in: The C&L 73 mm MAF is made by Vortech and is an easy upgrade. It is larger than the stock 55 mm MAF as you can see:

C&L on the left, stock on the right. All that's needed from the old MAF is the circuitry on top. C&L includes a special tool that you might need.

I also changed the sample tube. Setup for the SHO, the MAF runs too lean as it has the tube setup for the SHO's 24 pound injectors. I put in a sample tube calibrated for 19 pound injectors (from a Mustang), which richens up the mix.

24 pound on the left, 19 pound on the right. Another thing is, the sample tube has been reversed. I used to get a brief check engine light when lifting off the gas, this way I don't. Better air reading perhaps.

Update-at this point, I've put the old MAF back in, to improve emissions readings.
